The tenth of October 2018 is World Mental Health Day. Yes, that’s tomorrow.

In Australia, in 2017 there were 3,128 suicides compared with 2,866 in 2016. Obviously this is a worrying trend.
On a more positive note, with $9 billion dollars being spent on mental health in Australia on an annual basis, a Productivity Commission inquiry into Australia’s mental health system has just been announced earlier this month.
The inquiry will look at the impact of mental illness on the economy, and scrutinise the $9 billion dollars being spent by the federal, state and territory governments combined.
The inquiry’s announcement has been hailed as a significant step forward by leading mental health advocacy groups.
